Saint Onufrie Orphanage Consecration

Dear SPOC Family

We give Glory to God for a blessed and crucial moment in the life of Saint Onufrie Orphanage.

Saturday, September 27, 2025, on the day of commemorating Saint Antim Ivireanul, His Eminence Andrei, Archbishop of Vad, Feleac, and Cluj and Metropolitan of Cluj, Maramureș, and Sălaj, served together with Fr Visarion Pasca, three other bishops and several other priests, at the Saint Onufrie Orphanage, on the occasion of the consecration of the orphanage’s church. Both the exterior and interior of the place of worship were blessed by sprinkling with holy water, anointing with Holy and Great Myrrh; the relics of martyrs were placed in the foot of the Holy Table of the church dedicated to “Saint Onuphrius the Great” followed by the Divine Liturgy at the summer altar.

The orphanage church construction began on August 24, 2017 and has been finalized in 2025. The exterior plastering of the walls was made from natural materials specific to the Transylvania region (lime, limestone, and marble dust). The interior painting bears the signature of Andrei Mușat, professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest.

SPOC supported the construction and the painting of the church and summer altar, along with the construction of the orphanage buildings, acquiring land and providing ongoing support for the children all these years. It is an accomplished milestone in the life of the orphanage and we share this joy with our SPOC donors and supporters .

This church will be from now one, a place for orthodox worship not only for the orphans and the staff of Saint Onufrie Orphanage but for an entire community and visitors. We thank you in the name of the orphans and we invite you to visit the church so we can Glorify the Lord together.

With gratitude,
The Team at SPOC
